Last updated: April 2026 · Instant Klarity, instantklarity.com
Short version: We analyze your situation to give you clarity. We don't sell your data, we don't store your name or birth year permanently, and we don't share anything with advertisers. Ever.
1. Who We Are
Instant Klarity ("we", "us", "our") is a decision intelligence service operating at instantklarity.com. We help individuals gain clarity on decisions through structured analysis.
For questions about this policy, contact us at the address in Section 9.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to deliver your clarity report:
- Situation text — the description of your decision you enter in the input field. This is processed by our AI analysis system and not stored on our servers after your session.
- Category selection — which decision type you selected (Career, Money, etc.).
- First name and birth year (optional) — if provided, used only to calibrate your report during the session. These are not stored permanently on our servers.
- Usage data — how many decisions you've used is tracked locally in your browser via localStorage. To enforce free-tier limits and prevent abuse, we also track usage server-side using a hashed (non-identifiable) version of your IP address via Upstash Redis. The raw IP is never stored.
- Email address — collected before your first analysis to manage your free decision allowance and prevent abuse. Stored locally in your browser and hashed server-side. Not used for marketing.
- Google account information — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google solely to authenticate your account and link your paid subscription. We do not access any other Google account data.
- Payment information — if you upgrade, payments are processed by Dodo Payments. We do not store your card details.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information only to:
- Generate your personalized clarity report
- Calibrate analysis quality (name + birth year, if provided)
- Track your free tier usage (locally in your browser via localStorage, and server-side via your email address and hashed IP for enforcement and abuse prevention)
- Authenticate your account via Google Sign-In and maintain your paid subscription status
- Process your subscription payment (via third-party payment processor)
- Improve the accuracy of our analysis system (aggregated, anonymized patterns only)
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
4. Personal Pattern Calibration
When you optionally provide your first name and birth year, these are used solely to personalise the tone, framing, and timing language of your report during that session.
- The calibration is applied silently — these inputs are never displayed back to you as labels or used to identify you.
- Neither your name nor birth year are transmitted to third parties or stored after your session ends.
- The specific methodology used for calibration is proprietary to Instant Klarity.
Plain language: If you provide these optional fields, your report will feel more specifically tailored to you. If you skip them, you still get a full report — the calibration is genuinely optional.
5. Data Storage and Retention
We are designed around minimal data retention:
- Situation text — sent to our AI provider for processing, not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
- Name + birth year — processed in memory during your session only. Not written to any database.
- Decision history — stored in your browser's localStorage only. We cannot access it. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.
- Email address — stored in hashed form in our Redis database to track free usage. Not linked to any personal profile. Retained for the duration of your usage.
- Google Sign-In data — your email address from Google is stored to maintain your paid subscription status. Not used for any other purpose.
- Server logs — standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, request metadata) are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Anthropic — our AI analysis provider. Your situation text is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to their handling of this data. See anthropic.com/privacy.
- Google Sign-In — used for account authentication. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google's privacy policy applies to their handling of your authentication data. We receive only your name and email address. See policies.google.com/privacy.
- Vercel — our hosting provider. Standard server infrastructure. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Dodo Payments — payment processing for paid subscriptions. We do not store payment card details. Dodo Payments' privacy policy applies to payment data. See dodopayments.com.
- Upstash — Redis infrastructure used for rate limiting and usage tracking. We store a hashed (anonymised) version of your IP address and email for this purpose — never the raw IP. See upstash.com/trust/privacy.pdf.
- Google Fonts — typography. Google may log font requests per their privacy policy.
7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- Deletion — request deletion of your data (note: most data is session-only and already not retained)
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Portability — request your data in a portable format
- Objection — object to processing of your data
Since we retain minimal data, most requests can be satisfied by confirming that the data was not stored. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below.
8. Cookies and Local Storage
We do not use tracking cookies. We use your browser's localStorage to store:
- Your email address — used to track your free decision allowance across sessions
- Your free tier usage count (decisionsUsed, usageMonth) — also enforced server-side via your email and hashed IP
- Your subscription tier (free or paid)
- Your local decision history (optional, up to last 100 decisions)
Data stored in localStorage never leaves your device — we cannot access it. You can delete this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for instantklarity.com. Note: server-side usage enforcement is managed separately via Upstash and is not affected by clearing your browser data.
9. Contact Us
For privacy questions, data requests, or concerns:
We aim to respond to all privacy inquiries within 30 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our service evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. Continued use of Instant Klarity after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
